Why Lagos Men Think Working Class Young Lady Is Runs Girl
Let’s be honest… Lagos is a mad place. If a young lady is driving her own car, renting a nice apartment, or rocking designer bags, some men automatically tag her as a “runs girl.” No questions asked. It’s like Lagos men believe every lady’s success must come from one sugar daddy somewhere.
Picture this… a 27-year-old lady pulls up in her Toyota Corolla, well dressed, makeup on point, laptop bag in hand. Instead of “Wow, she must be doing well in her career,” the first thought from some men is, “Which big man dey sponsor am?” Lagos gossip can finish person’s reputation before you even know it.
Part of the problem is insecurity. Some Lagos men are intimidated when a woman doesn’t need their money. In a city where hustle is tough, they wonder how she can afford certain things, forgetting that women too can rise through hard work, legit jobs, and smart investments.

Another angle is Lagos lifestyle itself. Too many ladies really are into “runs” and living large off men, so the genuine hardworking ones get dragged into the same basket. It’s the classic case of “one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.” Sadly, it means society doesn’t give working-class women the respect they deserve.
But here’s the truth… not every successful woman is sleeping her way to the top. Many are burning midnight oil, fighting Lagos traffic daily, saving like crazy, and sacrificing enjoyment for progress. Instead of assuming the worst, men should start celebrating women who break barriers. After all, Proverbs 31 describes a woman who is business-minded, industrious, and strong. That’s not “runs”… that’s grace and grit.
So, next time you see a young lady with her own car and her own money, don’t rush to slap the “runs girl” tag on her. Ask yourself… if it was your sister or daughter, would you want people to rubbish her hustle like that?
