Don’t Ask God For Money, Ask Him For These 7 Things Instead

Don’t Ask God For Money, Ask Him For These 7 Things Instead

My dear, let me tell you the truth… sometimes the problem is not that God hasn’t blessed us, it’s that we are asking for the wrong things. You know how a small child will be crying, “Daddy buy me sweet, buy me biscuit,” when the father is thinking of how to pay school fees? That’s how many of us sound in prayer.

Money is good oh, nobody is dragging that. But money is like smoke… if you don’t have the right foundation, it will disappear before your eyes. That’s why instead of shouting “God give me money,” there are deeper, wiser requests you should be making. When you ask God for these 7 things, the money and every other thing will follow naturally.

1. Ask For Wisdom

See ehn, Solomon didn’t ask God for naira, pounds or dollars. He asked for wisdom… and God gave him riches on top. Wisdom is what helps you manage opportunities. If you like, let 10 million land in your account today, without wisdom, in 6 months you’ll be back to square one. Proverbs 4:7 says wisdom is the principal thing. So next time you pray, say, “Lord, give me wisdom to handle life.”

2. Ask For Vision

Money without vision is like fuel inside a parked car. Where are you driving to? What’s the destination? Ask God to open your eyes to see beyond today. A clear vision will attract the resources you need. Remember Habakkuk 2:2… write the vision and make it plain.

3. Ask For Favour

My dear, one day of favour is better than 10 years of hard labour. The Bible says Jesus grew in wisdom and in favour with God and man. Sometimes, it’s not your sweat that opens doors, it’s favour. That contract, that scholarship, that opportunity… favour can place it in your lap.

4. Ask For Raw Discipline

This one is not sweet to pray for, but it’s powerful. Money enters plenty hands every day, but discipline keeps it. Discipline makes you say “no” when everyone is saying “yes.” It keeps you from finishing your salary on aso ebi and shawarma. God can bless you, but if you lack self-control, you’ll keep leaking.

5. A Heart That Loves People

Why do you want money? To pepper your enemies? To buy Benz and oppress? That one no get future. Ask God for a heart that genuinely loves and helps people. When your motive is love, even God will trust you with resources. He knows you won’t waste it.

6. Ask For Creativity

God is the Creator. If you carry His Spirit, you should not be stranded with ideas. Pray for creativity… the kind that makes you see opportunities where others see problems. Nigerians are surviving today because of creative thinking. If you can create value, money will chase you.

7. Ask For God’s Presence

This one na the koko. Moses said, “If Your presence doesn’t go with us, don’t send us.” (Exodus 33:15). My brother, my sister, money without God’s presence will drown you. But with His presence, even in a desert, manna will fall. God’s presence gives you peace, direction and protection money can never buy.

So, Should You Stop Asking For Money?

No oh, don’t get me wrong. God cares about your needs. He even taught us to pray for daily bread. But if your prayer life is only about “money, money, money,” you’re shortchanging yourself. When you seek first His kingdom and the right virtues, every other thing will be added.

Let me round up with this small advice for you…

Money will come and go, but what you carry inside is what sustains you. Instead of chasing money in prayer, chase God’s heart. Ask Him for wisdom, vision, favour, discipline, love, creativity, and His presence. If you get these 7 things, my dear, money will start looking for you by itself.
